The biggest flaw in my writing is that I tend to make a good three-quarters of my paper a summary of others ideas. Thankfully after the first paper of the year, I steered clear of summary and started to express my own ideas a lot more. In my second paper and even more in my third paper, I was able to make my claims much more clear and make a stronger and more detailed essay.
‘Brandt states sponsors are those “…who enable, support, teach, model, as well as recruit, regulate, suppress or withhold literacy – and gain advantage by it in some way,” (556). This is another of Brandt’s theories that do not coincide with most learners’ depictions of sponsors. Not all, in fact very few, sponsors “gain advantage” from helping or hindering one’s literacy.’
